Grading for Seventh- and Eighth-Grade Classes

Students will be assessed on a variety of demonstrated skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.  This will be done through a variety of activities, games, songs, quizzes, projects and short writing assignments.  All scored work, including quizzes, can be revised or re-taken for full credit if a student is not pleased with his or her performance, with a goal of mastering the material.

Students will also have trimester grades for organizational, collaboration and group work skills.  This includes participation in hybrid/remote class, being on time and prepared with all materials.  It also involves having an organized, complete binder, which will document progress and provide reference and review for future courses.

Each student needs the following (at the beginning of the year and for each class):

  • A three-ring binder with lined paper that is just for Spanish

  • A three-ring pencil holder in the binder or a pencil case

  • Two or more pencils, highlighter, eraser, pencil sharpener

  • Earbuds

  • Chromebook

Homework policy:

  • We expect students to study for quizzes.  The best way is to study for five or ten minutes after each class.  Students who do not study generally have to retake their quizzes after a period of study.

  • If students do not finish classwork (or are absent for it), they need to do it as homework or come for after-school help if they need assistance.

After school extra help and make-up work days:

It is once a week and varies depending on the teacher.
